Activities | We arrive at Xi’an International Airport and meet with our tour leader and local guide and immediately begin our sightseeing at the Han Yangling Lesser Terracotta Army, an army that is smaller than the more famous one but very interesting nevertheless as the partly see-through floor allows us to get very close to the figures. Then we drive to downtown Xi'an and visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, before we check in at our central hotel and rest. |

Activities | After breakfast we return to the airport to fly to Xining in Qinghai Province, from where we will take the Sky Train to Tibet. After arrival we visit Ta'er Monastery, one of the great monasteries of the Gelugpa Sect and a very atmospheric place to see. In the afternoon we check in at our hotel and rest. |

Activities | Later this afternoon we board the Sky Train to travel to Lhasa, but first we visit the Tibetan Medicine Culture Museum to learn a little about Tibetan medicine. In the afternoon we board the train that will take us over the mountain passes to Tibet. |

Activities | For the first part of the day we can enjoy the stunning views of the Tibetan Plateau from the train. In the afternoon we arrive in Lhasa and meet with our local guide. From the train station we drive to our central hotel, check in and rest. We are now in 3680 meters altutude and should be careful not to strain ourselves too much while we get acclimatized. |

Activities | Today we visit some of Lhasa's most important religious sites on a day tour that takes us to the out-of-this-world Potala Palace with over one thousand rooms, and then on to the central Barkhor Square where pilgrims are walking around the Jokhang Temple in prayer. We also visit the temple itself, said to be the most important temple for all Tibetans, and dating back alomg 1300 years. In the afternoon we return to our hotel and rest. |

Activities | Two other temples of great importance lies just outside Lhasa. First we visit the large and sprawling Dreprung Temple where we can get close to the temple activities, and in the afternoon we visit the Sera Temple where we witness the afternoon's debate, as monks in the hundreds take to the courtyard to discuss the teachings of Buddha. |

Activities | We leave Lhasa and drive to Yamdrok Lake nestled in the mountains 4600 meters above sea level. The lake is holy and of great importance to the Tibetans. On the way to Gyangtze we also pass the Karuoka Glacier before we arrive Gyantze and visit Pelkor Chode Monastery, and then check in. |

Activities | Before leaving Gyangtze we visit the Dzong, a large stone fortress built on a hillside to repel invaders. The view of the surrounding countryside is excellent up here. Then we drive to Shigatse, the largest city in Tibet outside Lhasa, where we visit the incredible Tashilunpo Monastery, home of the Panchen Lamas. Later we check in and rest. |

Activities | We drive out of town and once again up into the mountains. Our goal is Gandan Monastery in 4600 meters altitude. We both visit the monastery itself and also take the hike around the temple known as the kora, a pilgrimage undertaken by many pilgrims all the time. The hike offers great views of Lhasa Valley. |

Activities | The day is full of activities before we leave China. We start out at the City Wall, before driving to the incredible Terracotta Army, an ancient clay army of lifesized figures protecting Emperor Qin's grave site. Back in Xi'an we take a walk in the Muslim Quarter before we enjoy a dumpling banquet farewell dinner. |

Luxury Upgrade Policy: A luxury upgrade option is available with many of our tours. In accordance with our quality benchmark, upgrade options are divided into four categories: 1. Available - upgrade possible at all destinations in tour itinerary. 2. Partially available - upgrade not possible at one or more destnations in tour itinerary. 3. Not recommended - available or partially available, but not recommended (see Hotel Policy). 4. Not available - luxury upgrades are not possible on many of our trademark specialty tours to remote or developing regions. These tours are deeply genuine and authentic.
Keeping our guests' comfort in mind, we prefer to stay in a 2* or 3* hotel in or close to the attraction, rather than a 4* or 5* hotel much further away. Genuine China Tours' all-encompassing hotel policy is that we will never pick a hotel only because of its price. All our partner hotels must live up to a strict quality test that includes: 1. Geographical location - the location of our chosen hotel is of great importantce, both in large cities, where traffic congestion can play a vital role in the handling of the tour, and also on tours to remote villages, where the right choice of village or hotel can mean a world of difference to the tour. 2. Quality of hotel - including room size and cleanliness, quality of breakfast, ease of getting in/out and more. 3. Local environment - local environment should include local sights (when possible), be in the vicinity of local markets/night markets (if any) and have access to shops and convenience stores (if any). 4. Design and layout of hotel - we prefer hotels with history and atmosphere, especially if these have relevance with the sight(s) at the destination. 5. Value for money - any hotel must pass requirements 1-3 and 5. If a hotel passes all five requirements it becomes a Priority Hotel.
Also important: 1. Please perform a thorough health check before traveling. If your health is not good enough please refrain from traveling. Most major tourist destinations in China have good health care services, but on tours to remote or high altitude destinations you should make sure your health allows you to travel to these destinations. Genuine China Tours will bear no responsibility in case of any accident, relapse or discomfort. 2. Disabled persons should be accompanied by by their own aid instruments or an accompanying person. Genuine China Tours can not provide aid instruments. 3. While traveling please adhere to instructions from your guide and stay clear of any dangers and/or annoyances. 4. Genuine China Tours reserves the right to refuse participation on a tour if the traveler is deemed unfit to participate or will be a nuisance to other travelers. 5. On tours to remote areas or high altitude areas accommodation and restaurants may not be up to standart. You should be prepared for this if choosing a tour to these areas. 6. Please make sure to bring items that may be necessary, like windproof jacket, umbrella, sun screen (sun lotion), health related articles, items of personal nature etc. 7. On speciality tours to remote regions, Tibetan areas and mountainous regions Genuine China Tours will bear no responsibility if tour itinerary is changed due to government policies, weather or any other influencing factors outside GCTs control. |
