Activities | Today some of China's most famous sights awaits. You begin the day early at the Temple of Heaven, both to see the impressive temple and also to see the vibrant life in the park surrounding the temple. Then you continue to the massive Tian'anmen Square in the heart of the city. From the square you continue to the Forbidden City, once the home of the emperors and now a stunning example of Ming Dynasty architecture. This exciting day is finished off with a wonderful Peking Duck dinner. |

Activities | After breakfast you drive north to reach one of the most impressive structures ever built, the incredible Great Wall of China. Your guide and driver will take you to the Mutianyu Section of the wall, which is much less visited than other parts. It takes about two hours to get here, and after arrival you will take the cable car to reach the top of the wall. You spend as much time as you like walking the wall before you head back to downtown Beijing and your hotel. |

Activities | Tonight you will leave Beijing by train. After check out you drive to the Lama Temple, a still very active and charming temple that used to be a royal residence, but was made into a Buddhist temple in the early 18th century. From the Lama Temple it is a short walk to the Confucian Temple, which you will also visit to learn a little about China's great philosopher. Later you continue to the Summer Palace in the outskirts of Beijing. The Summer Palace used to be a summer retreat for the emperors and is famed for its beautiful surroundings. Late in the afternoon you transfer to the train station where your guide will help you board the train. The journey to Shanghai begins. |

Activities | In the morning you arrive in Shanghai and meet with your private guide. Shanghai is a truly massive city with many sights, and your sightseeing begins right away at the impressive history museum, and then the City Planning Museum to see the large model of the megacity. Then you continue to neo-modern Xintiandi where you will visit the 1st Congress of the CPC where the party was established in 1921. After this introduction to Shanghai it is time to check in at your centrally located hotel and rest. |

Activities | Shanghai is an impressive city as you will see on today's walking tour. From the hotel it is a short walk to The Bund, Shanghai's famous waterfront where you can see both the classic art deco buildings of the 19th century and also some of the world's tallest buildings across the river, making up Shanghai's incredible skyline. From here it is another short walk to Chinatown, where the Chinese lived while foreign powers gained control of the rest of the city in the 18th and 19th centuries. In here you also find the City God Temple and Yuyuan Garden, both of which you will visit before the rest of the day is free to explore on your own. |

Activities | Today's excursion takes you to Zhujiajiao, one of the many water-and-canal towns in the large Yangtze River delta that surrounds Shanghai. Zhujiajiao is a great example of the way of life in the delta and the classic building style favoured in this part of China since the 16th century. The drive there takes about 90 minutes. Once arrived you walk along the canals and side streets, and also take a short boat ride to see canal life up close, before you return to Shanghai and your hotel in the afternoon. |

Keeping our guests' comfort in mind, we prefer to stay in a 2* or 3* hotel in or close to the attraction, rather than a 4* or 5* hotel much further away. Genuine China Tours' all-encompassing hotel policy is that we will never pick a hotel only because of its price. All our partner hotels must live up to a strict quality test that includes: 1. Geographical location - the location of our chosen hotel is of great importantce, both in large cities, where traffic congestion can play a vital role in the handling of the tour, and also on tours to remote villages, where the right choice of village or hotel can mean a world of difference to the tour. 2. Quality of hotel - including room size and cleanliness, quality of breakfast, ease of getting in/out and more. 3. Local environment - local environment should include local sights (when possible), be in the vicinity of local markets/night markets (if any) and have access to shops and convenience stores (if any). 4. Design and layout of hotel - we prefer hotels with history and atmosphere, especially if these have relevance with the sight(s) at the destination. 5. Value for money - any hotel must pass requirements 1-3 and 5. If a hotel passes all five requirements it becomes a Priority Hotel.

Most major tourist destinations in China have good health care services, but on tours to remote or high altitude destinations you should make sure your health allows you to travel to these destinations.
